Short guide to travel in economy class: Part 1

16.07.2020No CommentsSavina

Posts like “How to make economy class comfortable like business class?” have always made me laugh. It is extremely clear that there is no way to turn the economy into business class, no matter how expensive lotion we use during the flight or what dish we will order. However, there is always a way to make us feel comfortable in economy class … as in economy class.

Of course, it all starts with choosing the right airline. The right one, notice, not the best one, because such a concept does not exist – and we have pointed out before that each airline has its pros and cons, although all work towards improving service. Budget airlines are known for so-called hidden charges, poor service and regular departures from less convenient airports.

The truth is that there is no way to choose the right airline, cheap tickets and satisfactory service in all paragraphs. Turkish Airlines, for example, offers high-quality service, free choice of seat on board and travel with a lot of luggage at no extra charge. However, the ticket price is not to be underestimated. Ryanair, on the other hand, offers far cheaper tickets, but on the other hand the weight and the amount of luggage are strictly charged extra, and the service on board – not so high priority. Therefore, each of us can judge for himself what is important to him during a trip by plane and choose the airline that meets most requirements.

Many airlines are working to improve facilities in the recreation area, where passengers from all over the world, waiting to be transferred from one flight to another, kill their time – whether with a little nap, an interesting book or listening to music. Often such a stay lasts 12 (twelve!) Hours, especially during a planned vacation. Anyone who has had to go through such a stay at least once knows how tiring and boring it can be. This is the main reason for improving the quality of airport recreation areas – construction of facilities for children of different ages, bookstores with cafes, cinemas and spas are just some of the projects of airlines such as Emirates and Turkish Airlines, using them against access fee.

Which is the best place on the plane is a dispute that will always have at least 10 parties and each of them will prioritize different factors – safety, convenience, proximity to the toilet or kitchen. Personally, I prefer the place to be next to the business class hall. Why?

I usually get on board last – the time before my flight is always well filled. Moreover, in this way I am the first to leave the plane, or at least the first after the business class passengers. This saves time, especially if you are expecting a transfer flight and you are also first in line to check documents. If you don’t think it matters how fast you get out of the airport, try this on your next trip. You will be pleasantly surprised.

What’s more, the front of the plane is serviced first, so you can be sure you’ll get your coffee or tea hot and your preferred menu available. As for the eternal question “By the aisle or by the window”, this is a completely personal choice. If you are traveling with a friend or partner, book one of each; there is a good chance that the middle place will remain empty, and even if it is not, the person in the middle will hardly mind exchanging with any of you.
